Since the BSNL Board of Trustees re-launched our Elders Group successfully on 18th September 2012 it has delighted attendees with a day out of bhajan, bhojan and manoranjan every Tuesday.
A small Sub-Committee was set up for the Elder Group comprising of Navalshankerbhai Vyas (Past Chairman of our Elders Group), Shashikantbhai Mehta (in charge of Manoranjan), Suryawadanbhai Rawal (in charge of Mandir and Pujja), Sharadbhai Mehta (in charge of Catering and Dining) and Vinodbhai Mehta (New Chairman of our Elders Group).
The target age for our Elders Group is over 60, but all ages are welcome. Also all communities are welcome and this has proven to be a big bonus.
The Elders Group meet regularly every Tuesday at BSNL in the Porta-Cabin at 128 East Lane, Wembley, Middlesex – from 12.00 to 16.00. Around 40 elders have been attending regularly now.
There are 2 rooms in the Porta-Cabin - one room is used by the elders for prayers, bhajans and music and the other room for dining and games – which include carumboards and cards. Music and singing is very popular and attendees have so far preferred to spend their time engrossed in that.
Our usual Time Table is 12:00 to 13:30 Bhajans and Arti; 13:30 to 14:15 Lunch; 14:15 to 16:00 Manoranjan Programme - including singing, poetry, film songs, antakshri, games, jokes, etc). A delicious vegetarian lunch – sponsored by members or BSNL - is provided to all attendees. We are very grateful to all our donors for their generosity. We also appreciate the donations we have had of equipment including musical instruments.
There are future plans for other activities and to meet on other days – e.g. classes, health care, yoga - and also for excursions for the Elders Group as and when the opportunities arise. A WiFi internet and computer facility will be set up in the Porta-Cabin after the building works in the main building are completed and free training on the use of computers, emails, internet browsing, etc. will be given to our Elders as needed.
If you wish to join the Elders Group then simply turn up on any Tuesday at 12.00. If you wish to make a donation or want to help in any other way then please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call him on 07770730202.
Do come – you will enjoy yourself and have a great day out.
Jai Shree Krishna
Vinod Mehta (Chairman BSNL Elders Group)
