Building Project Launch
Launch Jan 09'
With the help of Trustees, Committee members and active Volunteers we
resurrected the Building Project Board. Mr Vinod Mehta is now the Project Board Chairman and news of development on this front can be read in the newsletter. On the day to day front, we have almost completed renovating the port cabin and shortly we’ll be able to hire it out again and generate extra revenue for the Samaj. More importantly we plan on using the port cabin to hold regular Elders Group activities including Satsang.
Our BSNL Building in East Lane, Wembley, has served us well over the past few years, and, while we were paying off its loan there was not much scope for making any major changes to it to better meet our Samaj’s needs. We are glad to report that we have repaid our loans and we have a healthy balance sheet – so we are now in a good position to initiate the much needed and long awaited changes. In summary, we will either extend or demolish our existing building and in its place erect a much bigger structure with multiple facilities to meet as many of our Samaj’s needs as possible - including having a large function hall , various smaller rooms for various activities, etc.
To drive this project forward, BSNL Management Committee and Trustees have formed The BSNL Building Project Board comprising of all the BSNL Trustees, nominated members of the BSNL Executive Team, several co-opted experts and Heads of YBs, Abhilasha and BSNL Elders Group. (This Elders Group is in its early stage of formation and will run The BSNL Elders Club in our new Building after its completion). We have co-opted our past President and past Trustee, Mr Vinodbhai Mehta, to chair the Project Board. The Project Board has collated our Samaj’s needs and types of activities we wish to deliver and from that have identified the facilities which will be required in our new building. Meetings are now planned with Architects to explore design options and costs. Our target this year is to complete all the preliminary actions and seek Brent Council Planning Permission for our new
Building. Then work can hopefully commence in 2009 subject to available funds and we can look forward to enjoying our new building from 2010 onwards.
This is a mammoth project for us but we feel confident that with your support we will succeed. Together we can achieve anything.
We will keep you updated on our progress!!
Har Har Mahadev!
